Advertising with a newsletter can be very profitable, but needs to be done right. Do not make the mistake many publishers do and turn your newsletter into an ad machine. Try to maintain a good, quality newsletter with soft sell. Most email clients support HTML but for the few who do not, offer a web link and publish your newsletter on your website as well as offering text.

When your reader count reaches 1000+ you can do ad swaps. with other publishers in the same market as you. This is free promotion and is often used for building subscriber lists. You put a recommendation in for a publisher in your newsletter and he will do the same for you. This is a great way to build your list with targeted subscribers.
