Starting your First Business, How To Build A
Lead Generation Website.
When you first start your business, the
first thing you will need to do is to market and promote it. It
does not matter what business you decide to do you will need to
make a website to be successful in your promotions. In this
article on starting your first business Part 1 we will look into
how to build a successful lead generation website.
All businesses need leads and one of the
most cost effective ways to get them is by website promotion.
There are many ways to promote your website, but none of these
promotions will be effective without a professional looking web
site. There are several different types of website you can
build but a simple website is the most useful when you first
start out. We will touch briefly on the steps you will need to
take to build an effective lead generation website:
- Get a good HTML editor. 2 main
ones are Microsoft Front Page or Dreamweaver. This will be
your biggest investment. Dreamweaver will allow you to have a
30-day free trial. Although this is a fairly big initial
investment it is well worth it, as it will enable you to not
only build your website but make any changes you may need to
it.
- Decide on the layout of your website
- Your home page-Make this a simple
introduction to what your website is about and what your
visitors can expect. Include a navigation bar on your left
hand side and of course your newsletter subscription box. To
make it easier for search engine spiders to crawl your
website put links to important pages of your site at the
bottom of your home page.

- Your lead capture page-there is some
controversy about these pages which are also known as
squeeze pages. You can have a small one for collecting email
addresses (subscribers)

your privacy policy, or make a more elaborate one for leads

ways of making these.
- Content pages-good informative content
for your visitors. This can be about your product or service
and also include stories and latest trends about your
industry. You can include RSS feed and blogs. This will all
be pre selling or warming your visitor for either clicking
through to your sales page or your sponsor’s page.
- About us-contact form-This is very
important for your credibility to include something about
you and your company and include a form for them to contact
you.
- Have a way to capture email
addresses:
- A free e-course
- Free download
- Free newsletter-put an opt in
subscription box on every page of your website
- Collect good resources for your
visitors-You will do this by increasing your link
popularity with linking to quality relevant sites.
This is a basic website to attract visitors and capture leads.
It will work well for your own products, opportunities and
affiliate programs. Next issue we will explore the different
types of lead generation pages you can make for specific
industries.
